Volunteer
Giving back will improve your wellbeing, equip you with skills for the future, and help you make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
Why Volunteer?
By joining us, you’ll…
- Help unlock potential. You’ll give young people opportunities to develop confidence, leadership, resilience and a sense of purpose.
- Be part of something bigger. Scouting shapes values — kindness, respect, integrity — and you’ll be helping build the society we all want to live in.
- Gain new skills. From planning adventures to budgeting, from leadership to communication — what you learn here will benefit your work, life, or just your own sense of fulfilment.
- Join a community. You’ll meet like-minded people, collaborate, laugh, and make lasting friendships — all while doing something meaningful.
Volunteering isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being willing. You don’t need any prior Scouting experience — just passion, positivity, and a bit of time.
What we need (and why your help matters)…
We aim to get 1,000 youngsters off our waiting list and into Scouting — and to do that, we need more volunteers like you.
There are many ways to help:
- Working with young people — plan and run sessions, guide adventures, mentor, lead badges
- Behind-the-scenes roles — fundraising, administration, marketing, logistics, training, safeguarding
- Leadership & strategy — trustees, committee roles, policy support
Your contribution can be flexible: whether you help weekly, monthly, or as projects allow, every bit counts.
What you’ll get…
Support & training tailored to you. Learn at your own pace, with mentoring and resources from day one.
Recognition & progression. Opportunities to grow into more responsibility, gain awards, and shape your role.
Enjoyment & wellbeing. Volunteering boosts personal wellbeing — there’s nothing like seeing a child’s confidence grow, or the success of an event you’ve helped run.
Connection & community. Join our adult social programme, be part of events, and build friendships.
“I volunteer because…”

“Scouting gives me structure, purpose and friends — all while supporting my community.” – Beaver Leader
