Scouts

Scouts is for young people aged 10½ – 14

Jump in, get muddy, and go for it!

Scouts are spirited, curious, and ready for adventure. They:

  • Learn new skills and explore new experiences
  • Form lasting friendships
  • Have fun through local and international adventures
  • Discover the world around them
  • Give back and make a difference in their communities

They meet regularly in Scout Troops, coming together week after week to make big changes—even with small steps.

What Do Scouts Do?

Discover the world
Scouts chart their own course—learning practical skills and embracing challenges they won’t encounter at home or school, all under the guidance of trained volunteers.

Start small, think big
Every small act counts. Scouts build connections, stretch boundaries, and contribute to a legacy of positive impact in their local area and beyond.

Say “yes” to new things
Scouts are open-minded explorers—whether it’s their first camp, writing code, or enjoying toasted marshmallows around a fire, they lean into new opportunities.

Leadership & Team Structure

Scout Troops are led by trained adult volunteers, who are there to guide and support—always using their real names, not nicknames.

Within each Troop, Scouts are organized into Patrols—small teams where members support each other during meetings, trips, and activities.

Promise & Ceremonies

Every Scout makes a Promise—a commitment to the values shared within the group. After a few weeks of settling in, new members are invested through a small ceremony, often held in their usual meeting place—or somewhere memorable like a camp or a mountaintop, if they wish.

The Scout Promise

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the King,
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law

The Scout Law

  1. A Scout is to be trusted.
  2. A Scout is loyal.
  3. A Scout is friendly and considerate.
  4. A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
  5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
  6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
  7. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.
